The main aim of WarrPAC is to work alongside our professional partners to make sure that our families get the best deal possible.

We are always happy, however, to signpost our parents and carers to services that they may find useful. You can check out our useful links later in the page here where there is a list of local and national groups, but we will be building up the information on this page to offer a little more in depth background on local services that our families have found helpful.

EHCP Annual Reviews

If your child or young person has an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan, it’s important to know that this plan is reviewed annually. This ensures that the contents remain relevant and that the support provided continues to meet their needs. To help you navigate this process, we’ve created a downloadable ‘Annual Review’ checklist for parents and carers. This resource will guide you on what to expect and how to prepare effectively for the review. Take a look below for advice.

  • What is an Annual Review?

An Annual Review is a formal meeting to discuss your child's EHC Plan. It’s an opportunity to assess progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure your child receives the best support.
  • How can I prepare for the review?

Preparation is key! Use our checklist to gather relevant information, including your child’s achievements, challenges, and any changes in their needs.

Learning Disability Register and Annual Health Checks (Aged 14+)

If your child / young person has a learning disability, it’s important they get the right help and support so they can live their best life.

If your child is on the Learning Disability Register, they will be able to get extra health support from your Doctor (GP) Practice. This also includes an Annual Health Check from the age of 14 onwards.

Registering with your GP helps the practice make reasonable adjustments e.g. longer appointment slots, quieter waiting areas, extra staff support.

For more information about the LEARNING DISABILITY REGISTER and about the ANNUAL HEALTH CHECKS, check out their web pages.

  • Why are health checks important?

Regular health checks can significantly improve both physical and mental health outcomes for young people with disabilities. They help identify any health issues early on.
  • What is the Young People Annual Health Check toolkit?

This toolkit is designed to support high-quality Learning Disability Annual Health Checks (AHC) for young people aged 14 and above. It includes guidance to help ensure that health checks are thorough and beneficial.
