Keep In Touch 1st April

Latest Update from Team WarrPAC

Team WarrPAC have had their weekly meeting with TeamWBC and TeamCCG so that we can keep the rest of our membership up to date with local news.  There’s an awful lot going on behind the scenes to help keep us all safe and well and make sure that the right support is available at the right time for our families.  The WBC website has a Coronavirus page on it to share the latest news.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW.

There’s a lot of work going on to liaise with schools within and outside the borough to support the children and young people who need to stay in school / college.  There have been mixed messages about access to schools for those with an EHCP – Check out the COUNCIL’S WEBSITE HERE for details.  As parents the main message is – Where is my child safest?  If a child is safe and secure at home, then that is the best place for them.  If the child’s needs are such that they cannot safely be cared for at home, school placements will be maintained wherever possible.  If you have any queries regarding your child’s education, contact your school Senco or check out the website link.

Another area of concern reported by our families is that of direct payments – some personal assistants may not be able to undertake their duties, and there are less opportunities to take children out to activities.  Like other employees, PA’s pay has been secured, but our families may still need extra support.  There is more flexibility in the use of direct payments at the moment, but please reach out to your social / family support worker, or via links on the website, if you’re struggling.

See below for our weekly “Check in and Chat” sessions.  We shall still be posting on social media and are welcome to contact us via MESSENGER ON FACEBOOK` or VIA EMAIL.

Please come along and join us for our weekly online catch up. We are using “Zoom Conference Room” which you can get as an app on your phone / tablet, or on a laptop using the link below.Make sure you check the audio button on your way in to the meeting, so we can hear you.In Zoom you can click on the video button so that we can get to see your face – or just stay on audio if you prefer.

We are running a Coffee Morning session every Friday at 11am

Our evening session is every Friday at 8pm.  We’re calling it “Gin n Check In” but join us with the drink of your choice!!

In these difficult times, it is really important that we look after our own, and our children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. The NHS EVERY MIND MATTERS website has some really useful information on it.
WARRINGTON SPEAK UP have got a page with lots of useful resources on it to help those with a learning difficulty.

The North West Training Development Team and Pathways are creating a daily video log on Youtube to explain the current situation in an accessible way.  CLICK HERE to see their youtube channel.

Another useful page on Warrington Borough Council’s website is their LEARNING AND RESOURCE PACK which contains links to support education, as well as anxiety / emotional management

WarrPAC have created THIS PAGE ON OUR WEBSITE to share links that we’ve found useful, including social stories and social media link.
